Mildura

Located within the Sunraysia district, a semi-arid region, Mildura is an oasis of endless sunshine, lush golf courses, citrus groves, vineyards and sandy river beaches. This very relaxed city of 24,000 residents is the perfect place to base yourself for your own outback adventure.

There is plenty in Mildura to keep you amused. Gallery 25 is the latest venture of the town's resident celebrity chef Stefano De Pieri. This is Mildura's first contemporary commercial art gallery and its aim is to showcase exhibitions of local and national artists.

Food, wine and fresh produce, is the main attraction of this town. Irrigated waters from the Murray River provide ideal conditions for growing all types of fruits; grains and over 50 percent of Australia's wines are produced within this region. Stop along one of the many farm gates to remind yourself just how delicious fresh oranges, stone fruits and berries really are.

Tour the cellar doors and sample award winning wines with big names such as Lindemans and Mildara Blass.

Grab a gourmet hamper and spend a leisurely afternoon feasting amongst the river red gums, or if your feeling adventurous take advantage of the river activities such fishing, swimming, canoeing and water skiing.

If golf is your passion, then in you're in luck. Mildura is spoilt with around eight quality golf courses, which makes it a golfers' paradise.
